Craft Month Giveaway--Tote Bag with Painted Canvas

In honor of Craft Month, Color Crazy is giving away a locker hooking kit for the Tropical Tote. The kit includes all materials to locker hook a tote bag with exposed painted canvas including: canvas, flannel strips, rattan handles, and Lumiere paint. A drawing will be held for all customers that make a purchase during the month of March, and the winner announced during the first week in April.

Locker Hooked Heart Box--Experimenting with Texture

Here's an easy design for a heart gift box. I have been experimenting with different materials to create texture in designs and decided to try raffia ribbon (the one I used is made from rayon). I hooked a heart shape for the lid of a paper mache box with fabric, variegated yarn and raffia for lots of texture. I pulled up extra long loops for more texture! I also thought I should try a lid with a locker hooked "ruched frame" design so I created one for a smaller box. See images…

Lots of Texture by Stitching and Weaving...

I'm on a mission to promote creating with more texture and mixed fibers. It's great to recycle sheets, leftover fabric scraps from sewing projects and yarn. It's also fun to combine locker hooking with sewing and other crafts like crochet or weaving. Here's some fun ideas I found recently including a new one of my own:

"I'm having trouble to. Someone else I know used a modified tapestry frame and roles the canvas along a she went. I've bought a couple of tapestry frames but my thick wool locker hooking is too chunky for the clips to hold the work tightly…"
